If Big Red likes it, I like it. Drove across two states on recommendation from Big Red, and it did not disappoint. Outstanding thick burgers, so clean you could play basketball on the floor. For the 1% who do not know Big Red: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/14fH4qRLoP/

Decided to stop in for a midweek lunch driving back from Michigan. This was a recommendation from a fellow Yelper and we were so glad we did. Located near the water in New Buffalo, this restaurant features water views as well as a fantastic rooftop dining area. Street parking can be a challenge and expect to wait for your table but it is well worth the effort. Staff is super friendly and the food is very good. Menu offers anything from salads, sandwiches, tacos, burgers and more. Extensive beer selection as well as craft cocktails are offered. Started with an order of Handmade Poppers filled with a cilantro creme cheese. Not greasy at all and the flavor definitely had some heat! My wife had the Third Coast burger on a lettuce wrap since she is Gluten free. Burger was juicy and huge topped with Colby Jack, Avocado,Arugula and a Special Sauce. Very tasty. Also tried their Fish Tacos with fried Tilapia,Pico,Colby Jack and drizzled with a cumin-lime sour creme. Huge portions but I would have preferred a little more spice . Reservations are not accepted but definitely worth a visit when visiting New Buffalo..

Food was great! Service was excellent. Only small complaint was the price. Well over 120$ for a family of 4 to eat. Food was great and we all left super full.

We stopped for lunch in New Buffalo on the way home and this place was hopping busy. The parking lot was full so we found street parking about a block away. It must be crazy during the busy summer season. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table. Our server Sierra was friendly, helpful and quick. I loved the cozy fireplace and all the photos of dogs everywhere even in the bathroom. They have gluten free bread available but I opted for a lettuce wrapped burger. My husband enjoyed a popper appetizer made with cream cheese and cilantro and also fish tacos. Portions are very generous and the food is really great for bar food. Nice half way home stop for us. The view from the rooftop seating would be lovely in the summer. They also have a gift shop across the street.

Definitely recommend dining at the Stray Dog if you're staying in New Buffalo or passing through the area! The dining room was cozy and vibrant, and the staff were all very friendly! The onion rings and cheese curds were the perfect treat after a long, active day. The fish and chips are a must for dinner!!!

Heard lots of good things about this popular spot and luckily got a chance to drive through passing this area before going back home to Chicago! We got seated right away and enjoyed the fireplace burning in the background. The views out the windows are wonderful with natural lighting. Our server was awesome and took care of us quickly. We ordered their soup of the day which was chicken and wild rice and it was the best kind I've ever had! I also loved my shrimp tacos, they were tasty and in large portion sizes. My boyfriend also loved his classic cheeseburger. The fries were cooked with the perfect texture. I also enjoyed my red sangria. Everything was clean and the service was quick. The best part was also looking at all the pictures of the dogs! Recommending everyone to check out this place! Would love to come back and visit their highly talked about rooftop.

Very standard American food. They don't take reservations so would recommend stopping in to put your name on the wait list and taking the extra time to walk around the town nearby there's a lot of cute shops. The service was a bit slow just since the place itself is super busy. My favorite menu item was the nachos!

A great spot for a casual(ish) dinner! Family friendly and lively environment but be prepared to wait about an hour for a table on the weekends. Thai steak salad was good but I loved the appetizers the most (truffle fries and spring rolls).

Stopped here for lunch on my way to St. Joes. The place was packed but we were able to find seats at the bar. We wanted to do a light lunch and drinks and this was a recommendation from a friend. I had the Ahi Tuna. It had avocado pickled onions, cilantro and lime. It was very filling, refreshing and delicious. I had the Stray Dog margarita and also the jalapeño margarita. My favorite was the Stray Dog. The restaurant is beautiful and the rooftop looked amazing. Of course there was a long wait for the rooftop but we were able to take a peek. Loved everything about this restaurant. Will be back.
